Mrs. Margaret LaVerne Poe Trotter, age 89, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at her home.Mrs. Trotter was born on November 8, 1922 to the late Edgar Faye Poe, Sr. and Gertrude Adelle Moulton Poe. She graduated from Polk County High School in 1940 and Bob Jones College in Cleveland, TN in 1944 where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech. Mrs. Trotter retired in 1985 after teaching school for 31 years at Polk County High School in Benton, TN, East Fannin High School, West Fannin High School, and Fannin County High School. She was a member of Blue Ridge First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). Her husband A.J. Trotter preceded her in death in 1993.
She is survived by a son, Bill Trotter of Blue Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Trotter Brumby and Edward Brumby of Bogart, GA; grandchildren, Allison Trotter Hopkins, Brea Brumby Worley, Hunt Brumby, and Forrest Brumby; and great grandchildren, Emily Bailey, Sarah Bailey, and Payten Hopkins.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Blue Ridge First Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Howell, Rev. Richard Poe, and Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be by Ione O’Neill, Imogene Stewart, and Ron East. Pallbearers will be Bill Prather, Jim Ezell, Joe Pack, Don Hall, Kenny Stuart, and Tracy Rodebaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hampton, John Cochran, Dale Dyer, and N.L. Prather. Interment will follow in Chastain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday after 3:00 p.m. but especially from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted; however, contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge First Baptist Church or the Fannin County Public Library in memory of Mrs Margaret Trotter.
