Mr. Eugene Paul Sheely, age 87, of McCaysville, GA passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012. Mr. Sheely was born in East Palestine, Ohio to the late Paul Henry and Helen Myers Sheely. He was a member of the McCaysville Church of Christ. He retired from employment as a Train Conductor with REA Railroad and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of the VFW in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Cornett Sheely and grandson, Alan Paul Sheely.

He is survived by children: Robert Paul (Melanie) Sheely of McCaysville, GA, John Ray Sheely of Reedsport, OR, James Edward (Debbie) Sheely of Phoenix, AZ, Alice (Min. Bill) Johnston of McCaysville, GA; sisters, Bernita Vernon, Harriet Vaporatus, Mary Lou Kish, Laverne Tynell, all of Ohio, Irene Butch of PA; eight grandchildren and three great grandcildren.

Local funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Minister Bill Johnston and Minister Keith Ritchie officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 24th from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Sheely will be taken to Struthers Ohio for a funeral service at the Cunningham- Becker Funeral Home Friday, April 27th with interment to follow in the Petersburg Cemetery of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Ohio.
