Rebels Ride to East Hall: Victorious Over Vikings 6-2

The Fannin County High School Rebels baseball team traveled to East Hall to take on the Vikings. The Rebels rode away victorious over the Vikings with a 6-2 win. Andrew “Peddles” Hyatt led the Rebels on the mound, picking up the win, while pitching a complete game.The Rebels took the lead early in the top of the first inning, when Jordan Gray’s RBI single with bases loaded scored Kolton Galloway; however the Fannin left two men stranded, when a ground out ended the Rebels’ scoring threat in the inning.

The Vikings began the bottom of the first with a lead off single followed by a walk. East Hall tied the game, when Fannin failed to tag the lead runner at home plate after catching him in the run down.

The Vikings took the lead after home was stolen on an errant pitch. The inning ended with the home team leading 2-1.

Fannin’s, Todd Patterson led off the second inning with a walk, following it immediately with a steal of second base on an errant pick off attempt at first. Hyatt’s sacrifice bunt moved Patterson over to third. A walk by Galloway put men on first and third. Noah O’Neal’s RBI sacrifice fly tied the game 2-2, the final Fannin score of the second.

Hyatt retired the side in the bottom of the second, with two strike outs and ground out.

The top of the third saw Adam Miller lead off with a walk, due to him being hit by a pitch. Brett Davis followed Miller’s walk with a double to center field that put men on second and third. Following a strike out, Trevor Stones’s RBI sacrifice ground out put the Rebels up for good 3-2. A Fannin fly out brought up the bottom of the third.

The score remained 3-2 until the final inning. Peyton Satterfield led off with a line drive to centerfield. A sacrifice bunt and grounder, from Galloway and O’Neal respectively, moved Satterfield to third.

Adam Miller’s walk put men on first and third. Brett Davis’ two run, base clearing double, put the Rebels up 5-2. Davis came home on Gray’s RBI single for the final score of the game.

Fannin finished the final half of the seventh, facing only four batters, to secure victory over the Vikings, 6-2.
