Fannin Junior Varsity Rebels Rise Up Over Gilmer

The Fannin County High School Rebels JV baseball team hosted the Bobcats of Gilmer High School. The Rebels rode an eight run offensive onslaught en route to an 8-6 victory.Fannin found itself down early as the Bobcats drew first blood with a stealing of home plate on an errant pitch in the top of the first inning. The Rebels tied the game in the bottom of the first when Hunter Rice scored after Dusty Dyer struck out, but reached first after a drop by the Gilmer catcher.

The score remained tied until the top of the third inning when the Bobcats took advantage of several Rebels errors to score two runs. The first run of the inning came via an infield home run, that should have been a double but two fielding errors resulted in a run scoring.

The Bobcats scored again in the inning, thanks to an error that resulted in the Bobcats leading 3-1 midway through the third.

The Rebels run began in the bottom of the third. Dyer’s RBI double scored James Pellegrino, cutting the lead to 3-2. The Rebels took the lead when Tristan Wilson’s base clearing double made the score 4-3.

Wilson eventually scored after stealing home on an errant pitch to make the score 5-3. Damon Rose’s RBI double made the score 6-3, the score going into the top of the fourth.

The Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the fourth; however, the Rebels answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth on back to back RBI singles by Dyer and Wilson.

The Bobcats scored two mores runs, one in the sixth and one in the seventh, but fell short in Fannin, as the Rebels held on for the 8-6 triumph.
