Janet (Obitts) Otto, 75, a retired teacher and resident died February 15, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Elyria, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Russell W. Obitts of Ohio and Marion V. (Maslyk) Obitts, currently of Riverdale, GA., she married Robert Theodore Otto, an officer in the US Air Force, in 1958 and the couple lived and raised their family at a series of military bases across the country.
She finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at Mercer University. The couple moved to Marietta, GA in 1979 and bought land in Blue Ridge several years later. After her husband died in 1995, she lived in Blue Ridge permanently, and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic parish.
She is Survived by her mother and two siblings, Patricia Macklin of Marietta, and John Obitts of Birmingham, Ala.; five children, Michael T. Otto and Susan E. Little, both of Blue Ridge; Dian Crowe of Athens, GA.; Laura L. Hunt of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Steven R. Otto of Marietta, GA; and six grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s with interment at Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta.
