Joseph Lamar Wells, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Joseph Lamar Wells, Jr., age 76, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Wednesday December 21, 2011 in the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA.Born in Fulton Co., GA he was the son of the late Joseph and Martha Thacker Wells, Sr. He retired from the City of Atlanta as a Police Motorcycle Mechanic after thrity five years. He served and retired from the United States Army Reserve and was a member of the American Veterans Post #88, the American Legion #248 and was also active serving fallen veterans through the North Georgia Honor Guard. Mr. Wells was also a member of First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Wells.

Survivors include his wife of fifty one years, Patricia Ann Fenn Wells of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheryl Wells of Blue Ridge, GA; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jenna Wells both of Blue Ridge, GA.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday December 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Howell officiating. Music will be provided by Beth and Steve Fortune. Interment will follow in New Cannan Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday after 12:00 noon but especially from 5-9 p.m.
