The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Adah Lou Abernathy, age 85 of Hiawassee who passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Union General Hospital. Mrs. Abernathy was born in Hiawassee on August 1, 1926 to the late James Andrew & Florence Billingham Taylor. Adah was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Abernathy; her parents and brothers, Vaughn, Alvin and Noah Taylor.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: Daughter & Son-in-Law, Molly Jean & Rev. Farrell Presley of Buford, Georgia; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Lynda & David Shook of Hiawassee; Grandchildren: Denise Simpson, Rhonda Brogdon, Robyn Shook Wike, Casey Shook; Great Grandchildren: Ashton & Conner Simpson, Courtney Brogdon, Taylor Wike, Payton Ivestor and Bailey Sutton; Several Nieces and Nephews and Many Friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Ledford, Rev. Farrell Presley and Rev. Tommy Seay officiating.
The body will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Special music will be provided by Rodney & Becky Underwood. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Casey Shook, Conner Simpson, White Simpson, Joey Brogdon, Jimmy Taylor and Randy Wike. Interment will follow in Laurel Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m..
