Mr. Richard Alan Spencer, age 83, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Copper Basin Medical Center.Mr. Spencer was a born in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Joseph Warren and Yva Zoe Minnick Spencer. He was a graduate of Stetson University where he majored in Engineering. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen in which he received a fifty year membership recognition. He also served in the U.S. Army in the 11th Airborne Division in Glider Air Assault and served as a Lieutenant for the Military Police. He worked as an airline pilot for forty eight years.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty seven years, Judy Spencer of the home; two sons, Grant Tyler (Katherine) Culverhouse of Clearwater, FL. Emery Kavin (Tania) Culverhouse of Treasure Island, FL; one grandchild, Duncan Culverhouse; many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Spencer was cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill in charge of the arrangements.
