Tuesday marked the end of the ETC TV3 Tipoff Tournament, leaving Fannin with games against Pickens to close out the highly contested tournament.
The first game between these two schools featured the Lady Rebels and the Dragonettes. The Lady Rebels played an excellent first half, and a three-pointer by Mallory Arp just beat the halftime buzzer and gave Fannin a 20-17 lead. The Lady Rebels played an excellent third quarter and led the game 29-27 going into the fourth, but a lack of offense in the fourth coupled with Pickens getting hot led to a tough 38-33 loss to the Dragonnettes.

Amanda Kinser led the Lady Rebels in scoring with ten points. Kinser and teammate Hope Cochran led Fannin in rebounds with four apiece. Both players were selected to the All-Tournament team.

Looking to avenge the girl’s loss to Pickens, the Rebels came out determined to beat the Dragons. Although a slow start by Fannin left the team with a hole to dig themselves out of, they did just that, overcoming a 10-4 start by Pickens to close the gap to within four points at the end of the first quarter. An intense second quarter saw the Rebels match Pickens stride for stride throughout, and going into the lockerroom Fannin only trailed Pickens by five points.

A disappointing third quarter in which only three points were scored by the Rebels put Fannin in an insurmountable deficit, leading to a 47-36 loss to the Dragons. Will Patterson led the Rebels in scoring with ten points. Patterson, along with Jason Arp, recorded a team-high three rebounds.

Will Patterson and Luke Adams were each selected to the All-Tournament team.
