Day two of the ETC TV3 Tip Off Tournament saw Fannin’s boy’s and girl’s teams take on the Gilmer Bobcats.Following the national anthem, sung by #33 Logan O’Neal, the Lady Rebels came out ready to play, scoring ten points in the first quarter to stay within two of the Lady Bobcats. However, things stopped clicking for Fannin in the second quarter, as difficulties offensively led to just two points and allowed Gilmer to take a comfortable seven point lead. Fannin closed the gap following halftime, but a disappointing fourth allowed Gilmer to put the game away and win by a score of 34-20.
Amanda Kinser and Mallory Arp were Fannin’s leading scorers with four points each. Hope Cochran led the Lady Rebels in rebounds with seven.
Looking to make up for the loss by the girl’s team, the Rebels took the court determined to make a statement. However, a slow start by the offense allowed Gilmer to pull away early, leading 16-6 after the first quarter. Fannin made a valiant effort to close the gap, but the Bobcats were just too strong, going on to the win the game 51-25.
Will Patterson led the Rebels both in scoring and rebounds with eight points and five rebounds.
The Rebels and Lady Rebels will face off against the Dragons and Dragonnettes of Pickens later today on the final day of games in the ETC Tip Off Tournament.
