Tribunal Sends Student to Ellijay, Gets Approval from School Board

At a called meeting Thursday, November 3rd, the Fannin County Board of Education met to review an appeal from a Student Disciplinary Tribunal. Since the matter dealt directly with student discipline, the Board motioned to go into executive session, which was approved unanimously.

The appeal concerned a high school student who was intoxicated on campus and displayed disorderly conduct. According to Board Chairman Bobby Bearden, the Tribunal assigned the student to Crossroads Alternative School in Ellijay. The student will be assigned to Crossroads until the end of the 2012-2013 school year, or until the student successfully earns his high school diploma. During this time, the student is indefinitely banned from the high school campus. The Board upheld the Tribunal’s decision.
