Rachel Newton : Obituary

Mrs. Rachel Marie Newton, age 70, of Morganton, passed away October 28, 2011 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mrs. Newton was born June 20, 1941 in Fannin Co, GA to the late Theodore Roosevelt Davenport and the late Blanch Jones Davenport . She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Newton had worked at Fannin Regional Hospital since it opened and loved taking care of patients. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dewayne Newton, twin grandsons, Jared & Jordon Newton.

Survivors include: husband, John Newton, Sr., son and daughter-in-law, John & Janice Newton, Jr., son and daughter-in-law, Ronald & Rita Newton, brother, Carl William Davenport, granddaughter, Amanda Marie Newton, grandson and wife, Joshua Lee & Brittany Newton, grandson and wife, Jonathan Allen Newton & Brittany Newton, grandson, Andrew John Newton and great granddaughter, Riley Newton

Funeral services: Monday, October 31, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Doyle Davis and Rev. Lee Tanner officiating. Pallbearers: Jonathan Allen Newton, Andrew John Newton, Ernest Davenport, Frank Parrish and Phillip Thomas. Honorary pallbearers: Co Workers at Fannin Regional Hospital.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Saturday, October 29, 2011 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm & Sunday, October 30, 2011 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
