Lady Rebels Ride to Dade County: Declaw Lady Wolverines 2-1

The Lady Rebels softball team of Fannin County High School took the long rode to Dade County, in order to take on the Lady Wolverines. Fannin’s furor proved to be to much as the Lady Rebels won games one and three to take the series and advance to the second round of the playoffs. Fannin will host Lovett on Wednesday October 19th.Fannin’s first game featured a first inning lead, after Alexis Collis’ RBI double scored Karly Thompson. Candace German continued her “lighting war” on opposing pitchers with a single home run shot in the third. The game went into extra innings, and the Lady Rebels used a three run top of the eighth inning to take a 5-2 lead, that would turn into a 5-3 victory.

In Game two the Lady Rebels (playing as the home team) took a 3-1 lead into the fifth inning, however, the Lady Wolverines proved to have mutant like recovery powers, and scored three runs in the bottom fifth to take a 4-3 lead.

Natalie McLaughlin scored on an error at third to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth; however, Dade County scored two more runs in the top of the seventh, eventually winning 6-4.

Game three, played a day later than scheduled due to rain, saw the Lady Rebels in dire straights, down 3-0 going into the seventh inning; however the Lady Rebels broke out the adamantum and scored six runs to take the 6-3 victory.

The Lady Rebels are planning a “Blue Out” for the home series against Lovett.
