A groundbreaking ceremony for Cornerstone Baptist Church was held Sunday, October the 2nd 2011 at the site where the Church building once stood and will soon stand again. Following a wonderful Worship service in the “temporary” building many gathered for the celebration of a new beginning for Cornerstone.
Church members, friends, and family enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day for the ceremony. Cherry Log Christian Church Pastor, Dr. David Griffin and Claude Mathis from Morganton and Mountaintown Baptist Associations Associational Missionary led prayers of blessings.
Cornerstone members and guests gathered closely as Dr. Mims, Charter members, youth, families, and seniors were all represented and each took their shovel to turn a piece of ground. A wonderful experience for all after only 3 ½ months earlier on June 15th, the church’s building was completely devastated by a fire sparked by a lightning strike.
