Iva Martin : Obituary

Iva Jane Martin, age 86 of Murphy, passed away September 14, 2011 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home. She was born July 5, 1925 in Clay County NC, to the late Van and the late Berlia Dailey Ledford Roach . She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Andrews. She loved caring for her family and working with her flowers. She was preceded in death by husband; Gar V. Martin, daughter; Sandra Louise Palmer, granddaughter; Rebecca Debty, half brother; Bob Roach; brother Virgil Roach.

Survivors include: daughters; Veda Diane Debty and Donna J. Hughes, son; Stephen Martin, sisters; Jessie Coffey, and Estell Ledford, half sister; Rebecca Dills, half brothers; Sam Roach, Dan Roach and Thurman Roach, eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services: Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Stiles and Rev.Paul Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Maltby Cemetery . Pallbearers: Carlos Palmer, Danny Palmer, Lee Hughes, B.J. Hughes, Robert Conley, Adam Sutton. Honorary pallbearer: Robert Martin.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy, Saturday, September 17, 2011 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

The family would like to especially thank grandchildren, Cassey Conley, Noley Sutton and Lottie Palmer for the care they gave to their grandmother.
