Elsie Vaughn : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces services for Mrs. Elsie Jordan Vaughn, age 81, of Blairsville, who passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Vaughn was born in Hollywood, Florida, on August 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Roy Jordan and Sue Smith Jordan. She had been a teacher with the Clayton County School System. Elsie and her husband had lived in Jonesboro, Georgia, and moved to Blairsville in 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Elsie is survived by and will be lovingly missed by many – but especially her family: her loving husband of 60 years, Travis Vaughn, of Blairsville; children: Travis Vaughn, III, of Atlanta; Michael and Susan Vaughn, of Atlanta; Glenn and Susan Vaughn of Strausburg, Virginia; and Evelyn Gavin, of Jonesboro, Georgia; three sisters: Kathryn Lancaster, of Blairsville; Jo French, of Young Harris; and Sue and Bob Brewer, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; six grandchildren: Allison Vaughn, Audrey Vaughn, Erin Gavin, Michael Gavin, Carey Vaughn, and Meredith Vaughn; two great grandchildren: Erin Noble and Megan Noble. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation with the family will be held at Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2011, during the hours of 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 8, at 12 noon in Comer Cemetery with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
