James Arthur Thompson : Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. James Arthur Thompson, age 66, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Monday, August 08, 2011 at his home. Mr. Thompson was born on April 20, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Charles Henry Thompson and Forence Ethel McMahon. He had an associate’s degree in Business Administration. He worked as a pricing analyst in heavy equipment auctions and was #1 salesmen of heavy equipment in the state of Florida for many years. He was the owner of the L&L Beanery and the L&L Beanery East, both in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce, a member of Leadership Fannin, and a member of the Sign Ordinance Committee for the City of Blue Ridge. He always took time to care for the plants in downtown Blue Ridge and provided food for Fred and Red (the famous chickens of downtown Blue Ridge).

He is survived by his wife Lynda Sue Nolen Thompson of Blue Ridge; sons, Shaun Michael Thompson and Kristy Croshan of West Palm Beach, FL, Jeffrey Scott Thompson and Angela Thompson of Pinellas Park, FL, and Christopher James Thompson and Kara Thompson of Mineral Bluff, GA; sister, Beverly Greene and Raleigh Greene of St. Petersburg, FL; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, and Gabrille Thompson.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cherry Log Christian Church with Rev. David Griffith officiating.

The family will meet with friends after the service at the church.
