The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Lamar Emory Lunsford, age 68, of Mineral Bluff, GA, a former lifelong resident of Atlanta, GA who passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.He was born in Atlanta, GA on September 10, 1942 to the late Lamar Emory Lunsford and Edna Hembree. Mr. Lunsford was the owner/operator of Donald Ray’s Brother’s Place in Copperhill, TN. He was of the Native American Culture. Mr. Lunsford was a member of McCay Masonic Lodge #423 F&AM, and a member of the Yaarab Shrine in Atlanta, GA. He was an active member of Alcholic Anonymous of Fannin and Gilmer counties and had been sober for five years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tracy Harris Lunsford and a sister, Judy Lynn Lunsford. He is survived by a son, Lance Lunsford of Cochran, GA; daughters, Alanna Flanagan and her husband Christopher of Mineral Bluff, GA, and Lisa Lunsford and her partner Carolyn of Atlanta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Donald Ray and Janice Lunsford of Mineral Bluff, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Edwards and his wife Nicole, Jacob Edwards, and Sarah Purdy; three great grandchildren; and nephews, Michael Ray Lunsford, Brace Pinney, and one niece, Erin Pinney.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m.
