Mrs. Edith Myrtle “Susie” Dockery Hughes, age 80, of Douglasville, GA passed away Saturday, July 23, 20011 at her residence.She was born December 29, 1930 in Copperhill, TN the daughter of the late Mr. Lon Devo Dockery and the Late Mrs. Jossie Jane Cearley Dockery. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Douglasville. She was a homemaker who devoted her energy to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Sue Hughes.
Survivors include her husband Glenn Franklin Hughes of Douglasville, GA; daughter, Laura Jane Hughes Murdock of Douglasville, GA; sister, Odeis Self of Ducktown, TN; brothers, Charlie Dockery of Calhoun and Lon Dockery, Jr. of Blue Ridge, GA; three grandchildren, Shannon Wayne Acreman of Palmetto, FL, Suzannah Danielle Seavey of Douglasville, and Joshua Acreman of Powder Springs; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday July 27, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Chandler and Rev. Neal Beard officiating. Interment will follow in the Pan-Will Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
