Mr. Ray Lewis Dickson, age 79 of Morganton, passed away July 6, 2011 peacefully at his home. Mr. Dickson was born January 6, 1932 in Iva, SC to the late Grover Monroe Dickson and Lillie Bell Gibson. A member of Mineral Bluff Baptist Church, he was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the Korean war. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: wife, Sue Dickson, daughter, Susan (Bruce) Fowler, brother, William Dickson, brother, Grover Monroe Dickson, Jr., sister, Mae Belle Hughes and sister, Marjorie Durham.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Hughes and Rev. Brian Clayton officiating. Music provided by Heather Fowler and Renee Collins. Interment will follow in the Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery. The gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Junior Deal, Tom Bryant, Greg Nazarian, Dennis Nicholson, Jimmy Nichols and Jack Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Wilson, Bob Harper, Bob Wehunt, Gene Barnes and Ulas Thomas.
