The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Jack Ivy Dixon, age 75, of Murphy, NC who passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Mr. Dixon was born in Thomasville, Georgia and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Sue Golden Dixon of the home; son, Steve (Debbie) Whitener of Murphy, NC; brothers, Joseph Dixon and Wesley Dixon, both of South Carolina; grandchildren, Stephanie (Casey) Jennings of Franklin, NC, Rachel (Mark) McClean of Topton, NC; great grandchild, Ethan McClean.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Maughan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
