Mrs. Darlene Queen Carney, age 82, of Ellenwood, GA, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Odyssey Hospice in Decatur, GA following an extended illness.
Darlene was a devoted mother and confidant. She loved her books.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Edgar Carney, father, Fred D. Queen, and mother, Mable Taylor Queen.
Darlene is survived by daughters, Linda Carney, and Gail Presley; one son, Dale Carney, a grand-daughter, Christy Presley; brothers, Mike L. Queen and Charles Queen, friend and “sister” Grace Carney Groves.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating and Rev. Doug Simmons providing the music. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Nichols, Sammy Williams, H. A. Hobgood, Randy Bryant, Jeremy Bryant, and Jimmy Cheatham. Interment will be in the First Baptist Church of Epworth.
Visitation with family & friends will be Wednesday evening 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
