James Maurice “Doc” Stillwell : Obituary

James Maurice “Doc” Stillwell, age 62, of Copperhill, TN passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 in the Copper Basin Medical Center.James was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a retired Ironworker. He was a member of the Bethel Church and a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by parents, James E. and Carrie Elizabeth Brown Stillwell.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hyatt Stillwell of the home; son, Caleb Mitchell Stillwell of the home; daughters, Sherri Stillwell Hughes of the home, Michelle Stillwell Wilcox of Isabella, TN; brothers, Joe Stillwell of Canton, GA, Bryan Stillwell of McCaysville, GA; grandchildren, Natasha Isabella Havard Stillwell, Kristen Gail Ward, Amber Nicole Hughes and Ashley Cameron Hughes. Many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 5th at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Roger Hyatt officiating. Music will be by Rhonda Hyatt. Pallbearers include: Ralph Hyatt, Rick Hyatt, Danny Hopkins, Bryan Stillwell, Josh Stillwell, Shawn Stillwell, Jessie Cantrell and Danny Sprowles. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Hughes, Tim Wilcox, Don Falls, Joey Buchanan, Chris Hopkins and Chas Ward. Interment will follow in the Hyatt family cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill in charge of the arrangements.
