The Fannin Rebels’ baseball team finished 18-4. The team raced out to a New England Patriotseque 18 game undefeated steak, which was followed by a four game losing steak that begun in the region tournament. The junior varsity team was successful as well, losing in the championship game.Coach David Dyer’s club was not able to overcome the first loss in the Region Tournament. Dyer felt that the lack of losses thorough out the season failed to prepare the Rebels for the loss that eventually came.
“You don’t learn as much from wins,” Dyer said. “You get a lot better perspective when you lose a game.”
The team featured six all region performers: Garrison Sisson; Jordan Farmer; Ryan Nix; Tyler McClure; James Bennett; and Daniel Roper.
There were four freshman lettermen: Jordan Gray; Noah O’Neal; Peyton Satterfield; and Trevor Stone. The sophomore lettermen were Brady Stanley, and Todd Patterson. The junior lettermen were: Colby Bowers; Brett Davis; Kolton Galloway; Andrew Hyatt; Adam Miller; Brandon Minter; Daniel Roper; and Korey Satterfield. The seniors were: Ryan Nix; Tyler McClure; Jordan Farmer; Jason Burnette; and Ryan Bowers.
The Rebels’ end of the year banquet featured a plethora of awards won by several members of both the junior varsity and varsity teams. The junior varsity award winners were: Trevor Stone (Most Improved); Brady Stanley (Pitching Award); Kolton Galloway (Defensive Award). The varsity award winners were: Ryan Nix (Most Improved); Ryan Bowers (Coaching Award); Jordan Farmer (Defensive Award); Daniel Roper (Silver Slugger Award); and Tyler McClure (Golden Spikes Award).
The awards, as well as varsity certificates, were distributed at the end of the year banquet. Video of the event is available exclusively on FYN.
