The Akins Funeral of Copperhill announces the death of Phillips Namon Hamby, age 67, of Turtletown, TN who passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011.Phillips was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Namon and Madie Adams Hamby. He was self-employed working in a saw mill hauling pulpwood. He enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of forty four years, Nancy Hayes Hamby of the home; one son, Phillip Matthew(Tia) Hamby of Turtletown, TN; daughters, Tammy Love of Blue Ridge, GA, Pamela(Billy)Rose of Hiawassee Dam, NC, Crystal (Ryan) Spurling of Ducktown, TN, Amy Hamby of Turtletown, TN; sister, Jewel(Vincent)Stewart of Murphy, NC; eight grandchildren, Andrew Love, Kayla Rose, Brandon Howe, Whitney Howe, Madesyn Hamby, Ryleigh Hamby, Toby Hamby,and Jacob Spurling; one great grandchild, Jade Love; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Ray Harper and Rev. Dennis Snow officiating. Music will be by Don Payne and Family. Pallbearers include, Hank Hayes, Darryl Tankersley, Mike Love, Earl Hughes, Keith Hamby and Robbie Stiles. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Cheeves and Michael Hughes. Interment will follow in the Riverhill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions in memory of Phillips may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
