Stormy Night in Georgia

Severe weather ripped through North Georgia Monday night downing trees, knocking down power poles and power lines, causing damage to various structures, and leaving thousands across Georgia without power.

Fetchyournews.com talked to Ed Howard, caretaker for the old Fannin Inn building off of Hwy 515 north. Mr. Howard told us that the structure is owned by Customer Solutions Services, LLC out of Utah and was most recently used as a school. Mr. Howard was taking a look around the property and told us he was on his way to get trucks so he could assess the damage and begin clean up. Whether it was a tornado or just very strong winds may still be in question however the roof was torn off the structure and debris was thrown around the grounds.

Fetchyournews.com also stopped and spoke with a resident on East 2nd Street in Blue Ridge. Annie Davis, who owns two homes on this street, showed us where her metal storage building used to be and where it landed. Strangely enough the contents of the building were still in place on the concrete slab that served as the floor of the blown away storage building. Part of her roof sustained damage as well. We also noticed billboards broken and lying on the side of the road along with other pieces of what appeared to have once been a part of some type of structure. While many residents are thankful to be ok this morning they may still face a few days before power is restored. Check our main page for the latest reports on power outage repairs.
