James (Mr. Tick) Johnson : Obituary

Mr. James Robert Johnson better known as “Mr. Tick”, age 81, of Blairsville, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Union General Hospital.Johnson was born July 26, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James Robert Johnson Sr. and Lillian Ollie Akin Johnson . Mr Johnson graduated from Landon High School in Jacksonville and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an amazing watercolor artist and retired from the Graphic Art Department of the North Georgia News after living in Blairsville since 1979. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge and a true family man. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira Joe Johnson; and infant son, Robert Waring Johnson.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 58 years, Ann Johnson of Blairsville, daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Dennis Adams of Sarasota,FL, brother, George Walter Johnson, granddaughters, Amanda Adams and Katie Adams, grandson, Kyle Adams, and close family friend, Dave Sosensky. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge with the Reverends Mr. Victor Morgan and Mr. Ronald Wikander officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Cemetery. The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA in charge of arrangements.
