Rebels Ride in Sixth Inning

The Fannin County Rebels baseball team hosted the Bobcats of Gilmer County in a 3-3 tie that was called at the end of the seventh inning due to nightfall. Fannin was down 3-0 before a rowdy Rebels run in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game. The game began as a pitchers’ duel between Fannin’s Todd McClure and Gilmer’s Marlen Hensley, although Gilmer’s Austin White began the game with a lead off double. Fannin’s Jordan Farmer had a single in the bottom of the first, the lone hit by the Rebels in the first inning.

McClure allowed only Phillip Henry to reach base in the second inning, however, he was left stranded on second base when McClure struck out the next batter. McClure held a shut out threw the first four inning before being replaced at the top of the fifth.

The Bobcats scored three runs in the fifth after a walk with bases loaded, and a two run single by Jacob Teague.

As darkness crept in, the umpires decided to suspend the game due to lack of light.
