The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Nellie Mae Olvey, age 94, of Copperhill, TN who passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Copper Basin Medical Center.Nellie was a lifelong resident of the Copper Basin area and was a member of the Tumbling Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas I. and Anna Lou Cindy Nix Hicks, her husband, Fred Olvey and grandson, Randy Olvey. She is survived by daughters, Grace Nelson, Frances Mealer, Mildred Gaddis and Geneva Olvey, all of Copperhill, TN, Christine Nicholson of Cleveland, TN. Eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 30th at 2:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. John Newton and Rev. Melvin O’Neal officiating. Music will be by Edward Vest. Pallbearers include Jimmy Hemming, Dennis Headrick, Robby Nicholson, Johnny Wayne Mealer, Stacy Dills and Freddy Cook. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill (Airport Road) cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
