Mildred Verner Collins: Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Mildred Verner Collins, age 91, of Ducktown, TN who passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011.Mildred was born in Polk County, TN to the late Julius Milton and Carrie Ada Torrence Verner. She was a member of the Cedar Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church in Briarwood, TN and was retired in Housekeeping from Copper Basin Medical Center. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar P. Collins, daughter, Mildred Joann Collins and siblings Warren, Cecil, Howard, Fred and Leah Verner. She is survived by sons, Oscar P. Collins, Jr. of Pigeon, MI and Jack Collins of Turtletown, TN; daughters, Leah Ruth King of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Sharon Dawn Morrow of Harrison, TN; brother, J.M.Verner of Hiawassee Dam, NC; sisters, Florence Loudermilk of Turtletown, TN, Betty Lovern of LaFayette, GA; eighteen grandchildren; forty one great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 3rd at 8:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Glen Stiles officiating. Music will be by Jessica Stiles, Jamie Stiles, Estelle Loudermilk and the Barker Brothers. Grandsons serving as pallbearers include, Perry Collins, Oscar P. Collins, III, Shannon Collins, Zachary Hyatt, Dakota Sosebee, Torrey Self, Steven Gordon, Chris Collins, Robert Gordon, Gary Gordon and Lance Hood. Interment will follow Tuesday, January 4th at 2:00 P.M.in the Mt. Vernon cemetery.
