The Fannin County High School Rebels boys tennis team finally got a start to the 2015 tennis season with a 4-1 home match victory versus Woody Gap. Austin Kuhr made quick work of his opponent 8 – 0 to lead the team off. Kuhr is a four year starter at #1 singles. Sam Kaye got off to a bit of a slow start but came on strong to get the Rebels a second point defeating Dakota Etheridge, 8 – 5.

Trevor Neal, playing in his first ever high school tennis match, dropped down six games to zero, and despite making it a match, fell to Easton Wood, 8 – 4. Next up was Alex Prince and Paul Walker, both first year players playing # 1 doubles, who had a back and forth match, finally pulling out the 9 – 7 victory.

Dakota Queen and Austin Kuhr teamed up at #2 doubles and defeated Luke Mott and Eli Gooch handily 8 – 1.

Head Coach, Robert Evans was complementary of his club.

“I thought Austin and Sam played very well today and showed why they are #1 and #2 on the team. They took care of their business and that way the new players could relax and play pressure free tennis to get the team victory. Dakota, Trevor, Alex and Paul all made huge strides forward right in front of my eyes this afternoon, showing big improvement just in the match today from the beginning to the end.”
