Mary Katherine Muse, affectionately known as “Meemaw”, age 89, of Ducktown, TN, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. She had retired from Memphis State University. After the death of her husband, Paul A. Muse she moved to the Copper Basin in the late 1980’s. She was a very active member of the community and of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill. Meemaw had served on the Welcoming Committee for the 1996 Olympics. Meemaw was a avid Tennessee Vols Football fan as well. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sally “Granny” Appleton Glaspie; her son, Paul Edward “Eddie” Muse who passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 40; and one grandson, Mike Muse.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Dennis “Denny” and Jenny Muse of Turtletown, TN; daughter, Carol Ann Ragland of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Mike Muse, Brad (Misty), Dr. Leigh Griffith (Dr. Spencer Griffith) and Austin Muse; 12 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 6:00 pm from Akins of Copperhill Chapel. Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. Rick Cortis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Spencer Griffith, Brad Muse, Austin Muse, Ronnie Hensley, Spence Griffith, Michael Muse, Bob Welch and Dr. Kenny Atkins have been selected to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service Thursday evening from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
