Unita A. Hicks, loving known as “Mam-Mam”, passed away on November 4, 2016 at her home at age 75. Born in Tellico Plains, TN, she was the daughter of the late Skiver and Hollis Roberts Millsaps. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bud” Hicks; a son, Jim Hicks; and one brother, Dale Millsaps. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and of the Christian Faith.

Survivors include her children, Sandy and Billy Leamon of Athens, TN, Mitchell and Sherry Hicks of Ducktown, TN, Gina and Jeff Burchfiel of Benton, TN; step children, Rick and Lesa Hicks, Vickie and Frank Runion, Kent and Julie Hicks and James Hicks all of Cleveland, TN; son by another mother, James Whitener of Ducktown, TN; brothers, Joe Millsaps, Jerry Millsaps, Herman Millsaps and Margie (special sister-in-law); and one sister, Patsy Jenkins; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Caleb A. Leamon officiating. Music will be provided by Tyson and Caleb A. Leamon and Sherry Hicks. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Mitchell Hicks, James Whitener, Rick Hicks, Kent Hicks, Jake Hicks and Russell Rogers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the service from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Breast Cancer Awareness at ww5.komen.org.
