Rebels Split with Union

The Fannin Rebels and Lady Rebels both move to 3-2 on the season as the teams traveled up to Union County to split games with the Panthers. The Lady Rebels left on top with a 51 – 47 win while the boys lost a heartbreaker 59 – 61.
The Lady Rebels took to the court first. The Lady Panthers got the tip and started a 5-0 run. Stephanie Tatum picked up a huge charge to swing the momentum early and allow for the Lady Rebels to respond with a 5-2 run.

At the end of one, the score was 12-15. Molly Chandler stepped up big in the second quarter to tie the game at 18 all along with picking up two blocks. Lindsey Humphrey would take the ball coast to coast for the lay end to end the half. The ladies went into the half at a 27 all game.

Union started to battle back up on top in the third as the teams swapped the lead back and forth all quarter. The Lady Panthers found itself on top 37-41 as the buzzer rang to end the third period.

Lacey Walden put a big four points up in the fourth to take the lead 47-46. The ladies would not look back to go on to win 51-47.

Chandler would end the game with 16 points to be the top scorer for the Lady Rebels.

The Rebels would get out to a slow start as Union took to an 8-0 run. Sam Kaye put the Rebels on the board with help from Will Holloway the boys trailed 6-20 at the end of one.

Logan Holt’s seven point second quarter pulled the Rebels to a 23-33 halftime score.

Holloway and Brandon Jordan opened up the third quarter with three “3s” to pull the Rebels within 5. The duo pulled the Rebels to a 36-44 end of third score.

The fourth quarter offered fireworks as the Rebels tied the game with 55 seconds left on the clock. Union would get the ball with 3.8 seconds with a 59 all score. A luck roll on a shot went in the Panthers favor as the ball went through the rim as the buzzer rang.

Both teams look to improve to 4-2 as they take on the Lions of Franklin on Friday Night.
