This year the Fannin County Middle School REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) scholars attended three field trips. The scholars received first-hand experience with visits to the University of North Georgia Blue Ridge, Young Harris College, and Berry College. While on campus students participated in informational sessions designed to give them insights into how to best plan and prepare for their future college careers.

Fannin County High School REACH Scholars participated in a field trip to Dalton State College on October 2nd. They had a tour of the college campus guided by a DSC student, spoke with science professor Dr. Hays about class sizes and activities, visited a typical dorm room, and had a picnic lunch at the tennis court facility. BLUE RIDGE, Ga. – Fannin County Middle School (FCMS) REACH Scholars participated in a field trip that included a visit to the University of North Georgia Blue Ridge campus where students learned about dual enrollment, a tour of the North Georgia Tech campus in Blairsville where students learned about the various programs offered as well as lunch catered by the Culinary Arts school, a tour of Young Harris College in Towns County, and a tour of the Fannin County Courthouse where the scholars observed court in session and participated in a voting simulation.
