On Friday, March 22, the United Community Bank Junior Board toured the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of a trip rewarding their service this year. The Junior Board is a leadership and community service organization co-sponsored by UCBI and FCHS. Throughout the year they participate in school and community service events including raising money for scholarships for FCHS seniors. This year’s spring fundraiser is a BINGO night sponsored by the Kiwanis Club on April 27. Tammy Thomas is the FCHS Sponsor and Jennifer Dalrymple is the UCBI sponsor.
The junior board also visited the Gullwing Club at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Jack Junior Parker, age 90, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Thursday, September 27th, 2018 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Parker was born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Newman J. Parker and the late Laura Pickelsimer Parker. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, and served in Korea. Jack was a member of Blairsville’s Kiwanis Club and the Union County Retired Educators. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Caroline Parker Barnard; a brother, James Earl Parker; and a sister, Barbara Colwell.
Family members left to share in Jack’s legacy are: his wife, Peggy C. Parker, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Diane Parker, of Blairsville, Georgia; sisters: Jean Kendall of Hiawassee, Jane Collins of Blairsville; brothers: Ray Parker and Bill Parker, both of Blairsville; and Zane Parker, of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren: Chris Parker, Holly Parker, Karen Parker, Brent Parker and Jamie Marshall; great grandchildren: Lucas Parker and Lily Parker.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, October 6th, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Pastor Jerry Helton officiating. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Chris Parker, Justin Collins, Mike Parker, Parker Daniels, Coleson Daniels, Lucas Parker, and Gary Kendall. Members of Blairsville Kiwanis Club are asked to serve as honorary escort for the family. Military honors will be presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will meet with friends on Friday, October 5th, 2018, at the funeral home, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to Union County Retired Educators.
