3 Monkeys Antiques Visits WFES to Discuss Upcycling & Recycling

Uncategorized

3 Monkeys Antiques came out to talk to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students about  upcycling on November 18th. Kitty Davis and Teddy Hill spent time with each grade level teaching them about upcycling and recycling. West Fannin will host our second “Upcycling STEM Fair” on January 24th from 5:30 – 7:00. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade can participate. Kitty wanted the students to know they are only limited by their imagination on what they can create for our “Upcycling STEM Fair”. She demonstrated this by giving each student a chenille stem and a bead. The students were given time to create anything they wanted using these 2 items. We were all amazed by their creativity. Kitty and Teddy also brought several things from 3 Monkeys Antiques to show the students how they upcycle discarded items and make them into items people want to buy. The most exciting part of the day was the challenge Kitty gave all three grade levels for our “Upcycling STEM Fair”. The student who is the “Overall Winner” will win a painting party for their class.  This will not be a normal painting party; Kitty will bring the awesome new paint they use at 3 Monkeys called Unicorn Spit. This is a wonderful event for our students.  We are very thankful for 3 Monkeys and their community partnership.
