How many times during your lifetime have you made the statement, “That’s not fair”? We learn early on that life is not fair.

Here is a question to ponder. “Are you a product of your circumstances or is God’s process at work in you?”

Because we believe, we speak. I have often heard other believers say, “I am a private Christian”. Let me say up front that I think all followers of Christ should be a good witness without saying a word.

If you live long enough, you will have some degree of regret. It’s a given that most people have at least one area of life that they wish they could change or do over. There have been moments for me when I reflect back and say, “What was I thinking?”

“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered into the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor. 2:9

In this age of contemporary Christianity I am seeing a trend of minimizing the importance of doctrine.

One of my greatest weaknesses is a lack of patience. I believe the older you get the more patient you should become. I think I may be a slow learner in that area.

The human is unique to all of God’s creation in several ways, but the most distinguishing feature is the need to produce and excel in life.

“He that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Last week I played tennis for the first time this year. It wasn’t long before the hot sun took its toll on this old body.

Like many virtues in life, the most valuable and beneficial things come at a cost. We mess up, make mistakes and through the school of hard knocks we finally learn the lessons we wished we had learned years earlier.

Nearly everyone knows someone who is filled with resentment, discouragement, and frustration. Many of these folks seem to be angry at the world. Where is this behavior coming from? It comes from living in the past or as I like to say, “Living life looking backward.”

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith…” (1 Peter 5:8)

Have you ever wondered why there are so many denominations? How could committed followers of Christ, who read the same Bible, have so many different belief systems and practices? I believe, for the most part, the difference lies in their concept of God.

Recently I read an article by a missionary that reminded me of the courage of Caleb in the Bible. After a rereading the Scripture passages regarding this courageous servant, I was struck by his passion to take risks even in his old age.
