Mr. Willis“Barney”Smith, age 93 of Turtletown, TN passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. Barney was born in Ducktown, TN to the late Lucius Napolean and Lula Bell Bradburn Smith. He was retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he had worked as a Crusher Operator. He was a member of the Croft’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Stephen (Debbie) Smith of Turtletown, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Beverley (Terry) Humberd of Cleveland, TN; brother, Willard “Snuffy” Smith of Turtletown, TN; three grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Mark Smith and Elizabeth Hurley; three great-grandchildren, Quinton, Ashton and Callieann Hurley.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m. from the Croft’s Chapel UMC with Rev. Les Coomer officiating. Music will be by Callieann Hurley accompanied by Janice Reid. Pallbearers include Rev. Bill Maughan, Doug Smith, Ken Wooten, Glen Hughes, Ronald Martin and Joe Ballew. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
