Mr. Charles Clinton “Clint” Carter, age 68, of Cherry Log, GA, passed away February 2, 2016 in Gainesville, GA. after a brief illness. Born in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, he was the son of the late Charles Ray and Evelyn Green Carter. He proudly served in the United States Navy for seven years. Clint retired from AT&T as a Major Account Representative. His hobbies included restoring old cars, riding motorcycles, and photography. He was also an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 45 years.
As a member of First Baptist Church of Ellijay, he was an active Deacon, choir member, and Sunday School Teacher. Clint also served as a member of the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Team.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Coleman Carter; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Brian Ogle of Tyler, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Deena Carter of San Francisco, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Frank Shepard of Marianna, FL; brother and sister-in-law, James “Jim” and Timilin Carter of Houston, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ellijay with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Music will be provided by Brent Coleman and the Church Choir. Interment will be in the Carter/Griffith Family Cemetery in Blue Ridge, GA with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard prior to the funeral service on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Blue Ridge Veterans Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be: David Harden, Zac Cox, Tommie White, Kenric White, Wayne Guider, Rob Cline and Brian Guider. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in memory of Clint be made to the First Baptist Church of Ellijay Building Fund c/o Linda Hoek 164 Dalton St. Ellijay, GA 30540.
