Steel Magnolias

Community

With a all female cast, Blue Ridge Community Theater is presenting their live performance of Steel Magnolias for one final weekend this Thursday through Sunday, October 15 – 18.

A show like Steel Magnolias is vastly popular, especially with a major film of it already considered a classic. It can be quite daunting a task for such a well known and popular show. The Blue Ridge Community Theater pushes past the task with a wonderful showing to bring life and laughter to some very real and meaningful friendships.

This show delivers a quaint story with a beautiful overarching theme on friendships, their depth, and varieties. Yes you’ll laugh at much of the show, but some of that laughter may come past tears with some of the more serious points. A well-struck balance of the two rounds out another highly enjoyable night at the theater.

Within the story, follow closely with my favorite character, Annelle, played by Casey Hall. This package of mystery and antics provides a nice point of view as a new girl of the group who changes quite a bit over the shows length. From start to finish she became my favorite one to watch with the transformation, but also with some of the funnier lines in the show.

Don’t miss another night with the ladies of Chinquapin, Louisiana as they join in their private days at Truvy’s Beauty Salon, where you’ll find a beauty far more than skin deep.

Showings for the final weekend will be at 7:30p Thurs – Sat and 2:00p on Sunday.
