What’s Dividing America
Opinion January 2, 2015
Opinion By George McClellan:America’s political divide will never be healed so long as there remains two distinct and directly opposed political philosophy’s contending for the hearts and minds of Americans: Progressive socialism, the neo-marxist philosophy of imposed state nannyism that is not in the American character, but has been subverting us for decades, and the revolutionary philosophy of self-determination, personal freedom and personal responsibility crafted for us by our Colonial forefathers and revealed to us in our Constitution. Of the first, the democrat party are clearly the champions. Of the latter, the Libertarian/Tea Parties are assuming the mantel of champions as the Republican party has apparently abdicated its responsibility to its base, but not to itself.
Conservatives, indeed most Americans who work for a living and still try to steer their ship by a moral compass, have not realized until recently, that they have been slowly losing their inalienable rights to the progressive philosophy of “fairness” for all, political correctness, dependence on a benevolent government and the redistribution of wealth, all feel good schemes designed to insure citizens enslavement and compliance with Progressive statism.
Apparently the Republican Party, now identified closely with the Democrat party, stands with them in embracing the joys of big government. Clearly they no longer identify with their once faithful conservative base, but look upon them as enemies to be neutralized or destroyed. Actually, we don’t really know what the GOP stands for anymore. They are slowly being abandoned by their base and I expect that 2016 may very will hasten the abandonment of the Republican Party especially if they insist on giving the voters another “moderate” candidate like Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney or Chris Christi as our (their) only choice for President.
So long as McConnell and Boehner remain the GOP’s leaders and Karl Rove maintains his sinecure as the party’s consiglieri, any positive ideas needed for restoring the rule of law will never take root and the old failed ideas still oppressing us will continue to undermine America’s exceptionalism. If politicians of both parties continue to plunder our coffers, ignore our rules and smother us in useless and choking regulations, Americas destruction is assured.
So far, the Progressive programs smothering us have been unworkable in theory as well as in practice. Thank you Jonathan Gruber! They have been insidious in their destructive power to Americas social fabric because they have not been generally challenged by conservatives. When they are challenged, progressives have no arguments and so resort to name calling, readily apparent in responses made to comments by conservative writers on internet blog sites.
They are bitter, contentious and vile mutterings of really stupid people who lack any capacity for clear reasoning or common sense. These are the type of folks who once screamed oaths of retribution while being burned to the stake for witchcraft or heresy. These are really awful people! These are the street people who show up at any rally Al Sharpton organizes, to inflict as much pain, chaos and social disruption on the city streets as they possibly can before being hauled away for a misdemeanor offense. But, these are symptoms, not the root cause of social discourse. That lies at the feet of Progressive liberalism.
And, lest we forget, a third philosophical element soon to appear as a contentious force on our cities streets is Islam. Coming to a theater near you, soon. Remember, freedom is the goal, the constitution is the way. Now, educate yourselves and go get ‘em! (02 Jan 2015)
