Rebels Sweep Brantley, Advance To Sweet 16

Fannin County is moving on—and now they know where they’re headed next.

 

The Rebels punched their ticket to the next round of the playoffs Friday night, sweeping Brantley County in a doubleheader that showed both their grit and their depth in a 6-5 win followed by a 7-0 shutout.

 

Game one didn’t come easy.

 

Brantley County jumped out early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Carson Coger, putting Fannin County on its heels right out of the gate. But the Rebels answered immediately when Drew Barfield sent a solo shot to center to get one back.

 

From there, Fannin settled in.

 

A big second inning flipped the game, as Heath Bradburn sparked things with a triple, Reid Holloway followed with an RBI single, and Barfield stayed hot with a run-scoring double. The Rebels added another run in the third and held off a late push to secure the 6-5 win.

 

Casen Bailey was the difference on the mound. The right-hander worked through traffic most of the night but struck out 11 batters across six innings to keep Fannin in front. Hudson York came on to close the door and earn the save.

 

At the plate, Barfield led the way with two RBIs, while Bradburn, Barfield, Cayden Reece, and Holloway each collected two hits in a balanced offensive effort.

 

If game one was about surviving, game two was about taking control.

 

Fannin County left no doubt in the nightcap, rolling to a 7-0 win behind a dominant pitching performance and a steady offensive attack. Hudson York set the tone, tossing five and a third scoreless innings before Rylin Davis came in and slammed the door with a hitless relief outing.

 

Davis also did damage at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double to lead a 12-hit performance by the Rebels.

 

Fannin got on the board early again, using extra-base hits to build momentum. Barfield doubled in a run in the first, and the Rebels broke things open in the third when Cayden Reece delivered a two-run double and Holloway followed with an RBI single.

 

From there, the pitching staff handled the rest.

 

York scattered four hits and kept Brantley off balance all night, while Davis struck out three in his brief appearance to finish off the shutout.

 

By the end of the night, it was clear Fannin County had worn Brantley down.

 

Two games, two different styles, same result.

 

Now the Rebels turn their attention to the next round, where they’ll travel to face Bleckley County Royals baseball on Thursday, looking to keep their postseason run alive.
