A Second Chance at Life: Fannin County Woman Honored for Rescue Dog Foster Work

FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. – A local North Georgia resident is being recognized for her ongoing efforts to care for some of the area’s most vulnerable rescue dogs, particularly pregnant dogs and their newborn puppies.

In a recent social media post, Sue Peet praised Donna McWilliams for her dedication to fostering dogs in need, highlighting the impact she has had on countless rescue cases across the region.

Here is what she had to say:

“There are people who like dogs, and then there are people like Donna.

If you’ve followed the journey of a rescue dog in our area, there’s a good chance Donna has played a part in a success story. She has opened her home and her heart to countless dogs through various rescues, often taking in the most vulnerable—like pregnant mamas who give birth within 24 hours of arriving in her care.

Donna doesn’t just provide a roof; she provides a soft place to land and a second chance at life. Her dedication is limitless, giving so much of her time and her home to help both animals and humans alike. She isn’t just an amazing “dog mom”—she is a truly amazing person.

When she isn’t busy caring for her fosters, she volunteers with Fannin County Barking Buddies. We could all wish to be as selfless and kind as she is.

We were recently lucky enough to meet and photograph her current crew: a beautiful mama named Lady and her litter of puppies, currently fostering for Fannin County Animal Control

Please enjoy these photos of her latest fosters, and if you see this wonderful lady out and about, please join us in saying THANK YOU for everything you do, Donna Mcwilliams”

Fannin County Anima Control, located at 1001 Fannin Industrial Park in Blue Ridge, depends on the generosity and dedication of local citizens like Donna.

Being a foster parent to animals in need saves lives!
