Hester’s Homer Gives Lumpkin The Win Over Fannin

Fannin County stayed in it until the end, but Lumpkin County pulled away late in a 5-4 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at four in the top of the seventh when Mason Hester hit a solo home run to right field.
Colton Gray collected three hits in four at-bats in the loss. Colton Gray doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.
Lumpkin County opened the scoring in the second after Jayzen Johnson doubled, scoring one run.
Fannin County took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Carson Callihan tripled down the right field line, and Colton Gray singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Lumpkin tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a walk by Carson Horton, and a single by Tyler Boggs.
Casen Bailey stepped on the bump first for the Rebs. The pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Jayzen Johnson led things off on the mound for Lumpkin. The starter gave up six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Tyler Boggs led the Indians with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Jayzen Johnson led Lumpkin County with three hits in four at bats. Mason Hester collected two hits. Matthew Mitchell stole two bases.
Fannin County will travel to Dade County for their next game on Thursday.
