Earlier today, a devastating fire in downtown Blue Ridge engulfed Danielle’s Cafe and neighboring stores.
Reports came in from concerned citizens stating that a possible gas line explosion caused the fire in downtown Blue Ridge. Fannin County Fire Emergency Management Agency stated that at approximately 1:39, today dispatch received a report of a possible structure fire at Danielle’s Cafe in downtown Blue Ridge.
The agency stated that they were able to contain the fire and save three businesses and three homes that were in danger and directly exposed to the fire.
At this time, no report has been made on the official cause of the fire or the state of the cafe that took the brunt of the fire; however, initial images of the aftermath do not look great for the restaurant.
The agency praised the community and neighboring counties for working together.
“6 engines, 1 ladder, an Air and Light unit, a tanker and over 40 personnel responded from Fannin County. A ladder and additional units from Union County and Gilmer County were also sent from a mutual aid request.”
They asked that the public continue to avoid the downtown area as law enforcement is still working clean up efforts and want to keep the public away from the hot zone as well as keep the roadways open for safety crews.
