Fannin Takes Series Over Lumpkin

Coming into the final game of the series with the Indians, Fannin was looking to stay hot and bring out the broom and sweep their region opponent on Friday night.  With the 8-1 win in game one of the doubleheader, things seemed to be in the favor of the baseball higher powers for the Rebels.

The bats stayed hot for the Rebels as they put 8 more in the column and brought home the 10-4 win and the sweep. Taking a quick 1-0 lead over the Indians in the bottom half of the first inning didn’t last long as Lumpkin answered in their half of the second with 3 runs for their only lead of the night.  A very big “No Way” could be seen on the faces of the Rebels players as the came to the plate in the home half of inning number 2 with a statement.  The Rebels dropped an immediate 4 runs to regain the lead and let the Indians know that they were not losing this game.  The Rebels added 5 total in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th for a 10-4 win over Lumpkin.

Seven of the nine Fannin batters collected hits with Hunter Gray leading the way.  Gray was 2 for 3 in the game with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Beavers, Buchannan, Kendall, Shirah, Norton, and Holloway all had 1 hit in the game for the Rebels.  Fannin sent three hurlers to the hill in Shirah with the start, Rogers and Norton came in as relief.  Shirah threw 8 pitches over 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs with 8 strikeouts.  Norton in two-thirds of an inning gave up 3 walks while Rogers retired the only Indian he faced in one-third of an inning.  This win has Fannin keeping pace in region standings as they move on to a big region series with the Tigers of Dawson County.
