Betty Jean Cooper

May 31, 1940 – February 8, 2019

Betty Jean Cooper, age 78, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. Born on May 31, 1940 in Fannin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Beedie Montgomery Dockery. She was a devoted member of World Harvest North Church. Mrs. Cooper participated in the “Awake America” Prayer group and the Intercessory Team. She was well versed and educated in the Word of God. She loved to go to yard sales, appreciated art, cooking and taking time with her family. Mrs. Cooper retired from Chryler Corporation as a Upholstery Seamstress after a number of years. Also preceding her in death was her siblings; Christine Curtis, Willa Barclay, Helen Pless, Mary Lou Aggapotis, Lilly McKinish, Ruby Miller, Billie Dockery, Geneva Salatka and Herbert Dockery, Jr; and one granddaughter, Jaylen Watkins.

She is survived by her son, Steve Cooper of Roseville, MI; daughter, Shirley Johnson of Mineral Bluff, GA; brother, Clarence Franklin Dockery of Mineral Bluff, GA; grandchildren, Steven (Tracy) Watkins, Scott Watkins, Stacy Watkins, Sean Watkins; great grandchildren, Destiny Watkins, Kiersten Twiggs, Taylor Watkins, Jada Watkins, Jackie and Rachel Epperson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 12:00 pm from Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Pastor Asa Dockery officiating. Music will be provided by Lydia Long and Martha Smith. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
