Larry Laverne Hughes: Obituary

Larry Laverne Hughes, age 71, of Cleveland, TN passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Larry was born in Copperhill to the late James Clarence and Lydia Trantham Hughes. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a Truck Driver and Diesel Repairman with the Toptech Trucking Company.He was also preceded in death by his son, Skipper Hughes and daughter, Eva Dale Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jackie Ammons Hughes of the home; daughter, Paige Johnson; brothers, Polio (Shirley) Hughes and Doug (Carol) Hughes; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hughes; grandchildren, Molli Boyd, Seth Hughes and Sarah Hughes; four great-grandchildren, Aiden Hughes, Marilyn Shubert, Jaiden Boyd and Ryan Boyd

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Min. Jeff Shelton officiating. Music will be by Ryan and Holly Norton. Honorary pallbearers include Seth Hughes, Jamie Queen, Sambo Hughes, Mark Raper, Darren Hughes, Jason Boyd, Pat Suits and Dewayne Hughes.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service hour of 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Larry may be made to the funeral home to help defray final expenses.
