Marcella Henson Goss Foster, age 87, of Duluth, formerly of Fannin County, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Johns Creek. Born on December 12, 1930 in Copperhill, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Jefferson Henson and Emma Jane Goss Henson. She is a member of Ormond Beach Union Church. Marcella graduated valedictorian of her high school class in Rome and received her Bachelor of Science in Education from North Georgia College. She retired from Fannin County Schools where she spent 30 years teaching at Mobile and Epworth Elementary. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Edward M. Goss; second husband, Ronald L. Cowley, and third husband, James Robert Foster.
She is survived by her sons, Edward M. “Ken” Goss, Jr. and his wife, Shirley B. Goss of Duluth, James W. “Jim” Goss and his wife, Kathryn A. Goss of Duluth, and Charles H. “Charlie” Goss and his wife, Lisa Goss of Ringgold; grandchildren, Zac Goss, Amy Stith, Jer Goss, Tim Goss, Lindsey Goss, and Hannah Goss; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Charlie, Dominic, Taylor, Hayden, Daniel, Andrew, and Jacob; brother, William J. “Billy” Henson, Jr. and his wife, Opal Henson of Rome; sister, Gloria Self and her husband, Doug Self of Rome; and her aunt and uncle, Betty and E.J. Mathis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel, Rev. Andrew Thoms officiating. E.J. Mathis will provide music. Interment to follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Zac Goss, Jer Goss, Tim Goss, Gary Bump, Rex Palmer, and Jarrod Pressley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are E.J. Mathis, Doug Self, Rick Goss, Roy Goss, Jr., Ronnie Kimsey, and Herman Jones. Visitation is Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
